Up in Smoke Smoke Testing provides mobile smoke-opacity testing and the Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Inspection for eligible heavy-duty diesel vehicles. We come to your shop, yard, farm, jobsite or fleet location.

Who We Test

Vehicles We Commonly See in California

Diesel vehicles with 2012-and-older engine model years are generally assigned a non-OBD smoke-opacity test and Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Inspection. Diesel vehicles with 2013-and-newer engine model years are generally assigned an OBD test, which Up in Smoke Smoke Testing does not currently advertise or offer.

Eligibility conditions

  • Available only for vehicles assigned two non-OBD opacity and visual-inspection deadlines during the contract term
  • Customer must provide the test type and due dates shown in CTC-VIS
  • Visits must be scheduled within the applicable compliance window
  • The contract does not guarantee that every vehicle will pass

Vehicles subject to semiannual testing generally demonstrate compliance every six months. Qualifying agricultural vehicles and certain California-registered motorhomes may have annual testing requirements. Always use the test type and due date shown in CTC-VIS.

Testing does not include repairs, government fees or a guarantee that a vehicle will pass or remain compliant. All prices shown online are estimates until confirmed in a written quote or service agreement.
